Get to Know Joshua M. Thompson, FNP

Joshua Thompson has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner since he received his FNP degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2017. Thompson is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (NP-C) and is one of only two ophthalmological nurse practitioners in the state of Mississippi. His medical passions include diabetic, hypertension, and glaucoma exams as well as post-operative care for glaucoma and cataract patients.

For Thompson, patient education keeps him engaged and fulfilled in his work. “I am very passionate about educating my patients about the different diseases they have and how they can be contributing to their eye health (for better or worse),” Thompson said. “It really brightens my day when I am able to see the light go off for a patient after educating them about their diabetes or other diseases they may have.” An avid reader, coffee drinker, kombucha-brewer, and exercise aficionado, Thompson enjoys spending his out-of-office time with his wife, Emily, and their two daughters, Violet and Eliza.
